Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #048 - Spring 2018 First Impressions - Part 2

Bcom, Kat and Leo are back with the final half of their Spring 2018 anime season impressions. Things got pretty heated this episode at times, but not between the hosts themselves. There are just some anime that really bring out the ire of our hosts, and press all of our buttons. It seemed like almost all of those anime were in this second half of our impressions. Whether it was Doreiku and Magical Girl Site for Bcom, Hisone to Masotan and Comic Girls for Kat, or Devil’s Line and Bcom constantly editing the Google doc to annoy Leo, we all had to blow off some steam this episode. But that’s ok, because we made it through, and finally chose the top 10 anime that we’ll be covering this season…even if one of those choices left Bcom literally speechless…

Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #047 - Spring 2018 First Impressions - Part 1

Bcom, Kat and Leo, against all odds, have survived the first few weeks of the Spring 2018 anime apocalypse and come crawling back from their computer screens with LCD sunburn emblazoned across their faces, to report on the best, and worst, shows of the season. This cast is broken up into two parts because Japan decided to put ALL of the anime out at once, to, ya know…see what happens. Thank you Japan! Once again, you have given us so much…honestly too much, and we need you to stop because this relationship is becoming abusive. Anime fans can’t be expected to watch 50 anime in a season, but you can always expect us to do it for you to give you our honest opinions on what’s truly worthwhile.

Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #046 - Winter 2018 Wrap-up and Final Scores - Part 2

Bcom, Kat and Leo are back with the 2nd part of the Winter 2018 season wrap-up. In this episode, we get into an intense debate over the ending of After the Rain. Bcom and Leo take solace in the fact that Kat was super-wrong about something in Laid-Back Camp. Kat and Leo are craving more Ramens, but Bcom’s not so sure. Ito Junji concludes with two absurdist comedy episodes with a special appearance by the Kool-Aid man. The first half of Darling in the FranXX closes with an intriguing cliffhanger about Zero Two’s backstory. And of course, Bcom punishes everyone with one last installment of the CiTRASH update. Finally, we end the show by giving out our final scores for this season’s top shows, in an in-depth segment where we get deep into our feelings on all eleven shows we followed this season.

Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #045 - Winter 2018 Wrap-up - Part 1

Bcom, Kat, and Leo are back to wrap up the end of the Winter 2018 anime season! We went really long with this episode, so we’ve split it into two parts. In this first half, we detail how horny Kokkoku’s staff are for Juri and Shouko, even until the bitter end. The Mitsuboshi Colors cracked us up for two more fun-filled final episodes. Mercifully, Skilled Teaser Takagi-san ended…finally, though Kat still has some choice words for its conclusion. Then we get into the final three fantastic episodes of A Place Further than the Universe, and how Bcom cried so much he couldn’t even jot down accurate notes through his blurred vision. We finish out this first part of the podcast with a lengthy rundown of the final three episodes of Violet Evergarden, along with a light novel spoiler section to attempt to answer a few lingering questions that have irked the cast throughout the entire series.

Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #044 - Spring 2018 Preview Extravaganza

Bcom, Kat, and Leo are joined by Brains from the Trash Pandas Watch Anime podcast to break down the upcoming Spring 2018 anime season. We go show by show through almost 60 TV anime, and give you the rundown on whether we think they’ll be worth a watch, or at least worth a drunken hate-watch. In doing so, I think we all learned a lot about everyone who took part in this cast. Leo is clearly a manga snob. Kat just wants pretty boys to be healthy and drink more milk. Brains, who has watched over 1,000 anime in his time, has happily accepted moe into his heart as the one truly great genre. And as for Bcom, well, it gets clearer every podcast that he has impeccable taste in anime, and in having that, he’s already won the pretty derby of life.

Make sure to stick around for the last part of the episode, where we made some predictions that will likely be very embarrassing for us in a couple months, if not a few weeks. As always, the timestamps are below, but I recommend pouring yourself a nice cold drink, maybe grabbin’ some snacks, and settling in for the long run, because it’s a good one.

Or, if you don’t have a lot of time, just skip to Comic Girls. Because man, that was some shit.

Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #043 - Dial M for Bcom

Bcom, Kat, and Leo return to discuss weeks 9 and 10 of the Winter 2018 anime season. As most of these shows are entering their final arcs, we discuss how we laughed, or cried, or recoiled in disgust at Junji Ito’s greasy, grimey goings-on. While some shows stumbled a bit, like Kokkoku and Skilled Teaser Takagi-san, others really took off like Sora Yori and Violet Evergarden. In fact, episode 9 of Violet Evergarden literally left Kat and Leo speechless… Come hang out with us while we make our final predictions going into the final episodes in the next couple of weeks!

Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #042 - Getting Wet in Your Typhoon

This week Bcom, Kat and Leo weather the typhoon of the Winter 2018 anime season's 7th and 8th week of shows. It's raining plot as we wade deep into the Winter season. We decide to open our umbrellas and get wet...in Darling in the FranXX's beach episode. Just kidding, After the Rain and Skilled Teaser Takagi-san both featured typhoons in their episodes. The Sora Yori girls decide to overcome their seasickness in some ice cold storm surges on their boatride to Antarctica. We also take a deep dive into our privacy-less future in the Ito Junji: Collection, and learn why you should never go to the circus. Mitsuboshi Colors, on the other hand, makes fun of shows that throw their little girls in baths for ratings, and Kokkoku decides to add the Incredible Hulk to its cast. We finish off with the Ramens teaching us how to hack the new girl from Citrus' phone, to get her middle-school aged nudez. Oooooh, Citrus. Never change.
