Nerdom and Other Nonsense Anime Podcast #026 - All Mermaids are Topless

This week Bcom and Leo review the Summer 2017 anime season's 8th week of shows. This time around we learned that centaurs are the world's greatest horse-archers, Princess Principal inadvertently attempts the same experiment as the movie Trading Places, and even in a restaurant in another world mermaids are still topless. Tsuredure Children proves us right for cutting Convenience Store Boy Friends with one of its best episodes to date, Leo explains the similarities between his childhood town and Manoyama in Sakura Quest, and Karen single-handedly saves Gamers! from itself. Finally, we witness another spectacular dancing scene in Virgin Soul, Made in Abyss gets "Blaze Reap" into some new lore, 18if is slightly more comprehensible this week, and the Cheer Fruits participate in a rare, plot-relevant bath scene!

Bcom and Leo get their knives out for midseason cuts, but only one show succumbs to the chopping block. We continue on to recap the 7th week of Summer 2017 season shows. This week, we apparently watched an episode of a Loli Centaur's Life and Loli Princess Laundry, Restaurant to Another World finally introduces that other girl from the OP, Sakura Quest continues to be excellent, Gamers! continues to be less about games and more about dumb, but entertaining relationships, Convenience Store Boy Friends' Mashiki has a lie in April to tell, Rage of Bahamut finally mentions Amira, Made in Abyss embraces violence against children, and Cheer Fruits introduces a surprisingly entertaining youngest girl in the group. And, in the highlight of the episode, we try to decrypt and understand the most creative episode of the season, episode 7 of 18if which featured references ranging from the Wizard of Oz to the Khmer Rouge...it's a wild one.

This week, a bunch of shows didn't air for mysterious reasons, the Democratic Communists took over America in A Centaur's Life, Beatrice wasn't constantly screaming in Princess Principal, Bcom watched the correct episode of Restaurant to Another World, we shout out a great Crunchyroll article comparing real-life anime locations in Sakura Quest, and Gamers! caused some irreconcilable differences to arise between both its characters, and the podcast hosts.
